Babywearing vs Stroller
As you may know, I’m a huge fan of babywearing! I do it on a daily basis and could go on and on about the benefits of it, so you may be surprised to know that I use a stroller on a daily basis as well! Personally, I prefer using a stroller on walks outside. We live in a neighborhood that is pretty good for long walks with a variety of paths and sidewalks. Even before my daughter came we’d take our dog on a couple walks a day. So we registered for and received a great stroller for our baby shower that I use at least once a day on a walk, and usually more! The problem with it is that it can be kind of a hassle to fold up, put in, and take out of the car. It can be especially tough if I’m going to be out with Easton by myself. My husband and I would both complain each time we had to do it, and would always remark how we needed to get a stroller we could just leave in the car. So, I was thrilled to get the chance to try out the new Joovy Groove Ultralight stroller!
Joovy Groove Ultralight Umbrella Stroller
The Joovy Groove Ultralight is an umbrella stroller, which means it is lightweight and compact and really meant for using in on-the-go situations. That doesn’t mean you can’t use it on an everyday basis though, and if you don’t have room in your home (or budget) for a regular stroller, this would make for a great compromise! It packs a lot into such a small package and it was just perfect for a walk downtown in our little city of Frederick this past weekend!
Why I Love It
Because it is so compact and lightweight (about 15 pounds) the stroller is easy to leave in the back of my car, which is what we usually drive when going places with our daughter. Taking it out and getting it ready is very simple and totally doable while also holding her. Same goes for packing it up. It has a strap for easy carrying on your shoulder and one of the really cool things about it is the little stand that allows it to stay off the ground when not in use, whether outdoors or in a closet.
It was pretty cool as far as August summers go in Maryland when we went on our walk downtown, but the sun was very bright! The Groove Ultralight has an extra large UV sun canopy which really came in handy! It is one of the biggest I’ve seen on an umbrella stroller which I really love since my daughter won’t always cooperate and wear a brimmed hat when we are outside in the sun. The canopy also has a little peek-a-boo window so I can still see her from the top while we stroll.
There are a couple of other great perks I really love about this little stroller. It includes two cup-holders (although I do wish they were a little larger because sometimes mama needs that venti Starbucks iced coffee!) It also has two mesh pouches on either side of the seat for storing sippys, toys, bottles, etc. which is so fun! Plus, there’s a zippered storage compartment on the back and a large storage basket underneath! So much storage!
Another reason my daughter and I are both loving this stroller is how comfortable it is. The seat is super plush and the fabric is super soft but also durable. The leg rest can be adjusted to be up or down, which is why this stroller is a great choice for any age. The seat is also reclinable to a near flat position, which means you can even use it for a newborn! It totally would have come in handy when Easton was first born and we had a first-time parent amount 0f unnecessary baby supplies to tote around.
Overall, we have been so happy with the Joovy Groove Ultralight! I can’t get over all the features they were able to squeeze into one compact little umbrella stroller! Most importantly, my daughter is comfortable in it and that really is the final word on what makes a stroller great! I can’t wait to see what adventures it will accompany us on in the coming years.
