First of all, this is a new type of post for me.  In the beginning, the blog started out with just baking projects, and recently some DIY as well.  However, over the past 2 or so, I’ve learned and changed a lot on my opinions about what kind of food I put into my body, which I believe has become evident on the blog.  Along with these new beliefs about what kind of food I should be eating, I’ve also come to learn the importance of knowing what I put on and around my body, like beauty and household products.  It’s only natural that my blog reflect the changes that I’ve made in my own life.  So, I’m going to try and do natural lifestyle posts as well sometimes.  I still LOVE baking and will include it in my blog, but I’ll also include other things that are becoming important in my life in an effort to make this blog a true reflection of me!
Ok, so essential oils! Everyone seems to be interested in essential oils these days and for good reason!  Essential oils are a good replacement for those wanting to avoid pain relievers, antibiotics, etc. after learning about the nasty side effects they may come with.  I won’t go into all the ways you can use essential oils, because there are literally thousands of them.  My goal is to share five of my favorite ways that beginners can use essential oils.  It is a great list to get you started if you are overwhelmed with all the possibilities that are out there.   If you are new to essential oils, I highly recommend the Eden’s Garden brand (included in link below).  This is a good choice for beginners because they are very affordable and they are a reputable brand that gets great reviews on Amazon.  I have quite a few of their oils myself and have been happy with all of them.
1. Lavender – It is amazing as an aid for relaxation.  You can try adding it to a bath or putting it on your wrists or temples to help you fall asleep. It smells great and has so many amazing benefits.
2.  Peppermint – Great for upset stomachs.  Simply inhale it, or rub it directly on your stomach, after diluting it in a carrier oil (I use jojoba).
3. Tea Tree – It is great for sanitizing and cleaning.  I add it to my homemade cleaning solutions and put it in my diffuser when I feel a cold or sinus issues coming on.
4. Eucalyptus – Good for sinus and chest congestion.  Put a few drops in a hot shower or bath or inhale to help clear congestion.
5.  Peppermint + Lavender –  The best natural headache reliever when applied to the temples.  Just make sure the peppermint is diluted first!
I hope this information has been helpful if you are new to essential oils.  If you already use essential oils do you have any suggestions for new users?
