You Deserve It, Mama!

It’s unofficially summer and as moms, there is no better time to start a new self-care routine! Even though it might be summer “break” that means moms everywhere are actually running around doing even more. So moms, you deserve this! I will be the first to tell you that I am not that great at making time for myself. It’s not that I don’t enjoy “me” time but I’m a multitasker by nature and that means any downtime I can come by is usually spent catching up on my to-do list. But this summer I’m vowing to make self-care a priority! So, I’ve partnered with the Mrs. Meyer’s® brand to help inspire you, yes YOU, to make time for self-care this summer.

I’ve come up with five super-duper easy ways you can easily fit a little time for yourself into your schedule, no matter how many little ones you may have trying to break down the door while you’re using the bathroom or waking you up at the crack of dawn. Self-care for mamas needs to be simple. If you’re like me, you don’t have a fancy membership to a Pilates studio or room in the budget for pedicures every week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the rejuvenating effects that dedicating 15 minutes a day, or heck, even a week can have for your mama soul!

Super Simple Self-Care

So, here we go, 5 ways you can start feeling refreshed and refueled this summer:

Breathe It In

There is a reason that people light candles when they want to unwind. Smells can bring us back to a place or time or remind us of people we love. Lavender is well known for aiding in relaxation and I’ve been a long-time fan of Mrs. Meyer’s® brand lavender scented cleaning products. So, when I heard about the Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash available at Target, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  With products that are thoughtfully made with carefully chosen ingredients, including some derived from plants, and/or essential oils, this body wash, along with the other products in their line of personal care products are perfect for a little self-care.

Just add water (a bath is my choice but a long shower will do!) and give yourself permission to take some extra time unwinding and relaxing while the amazing scent of lavender fills the air. You can also feel good about using Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash knowing it comes in a recyclable, BPA free bottle, hasn’t been tested on animals and is free of artificial colors & dyes. Plus, the Aloe Vera gel and flaxseed and other thoughtfully chosen ingredients  will leave your skin feeling buttery soft. On top of that, it smells amazing! My bathroom smells good all day after using it!

Namaste

Yoga is something that I used to do regularly before having my daughter. I realized that I really don’t need to belong to a yoga studio to enjoy the benefits it has to offer though. Thanks to the internet, a certified yoga instructor is just a YouTube video away! Whether you are an expert yogi or don’t know what downward facing dog means, you’ll feel great from the gentle stretches and breathing of yoga. Wake up 30 minutes early or wait until you put your kids to bed and your mind and body will thank you for dedicating some time to yourself.

More Easy Way to Practice Self-Care

  • Read a book. When was the last time you read something other than a bedtime story? Pick out a book that YOU will enjoy and read it cover to cover!
  • Try a new hobby! Been dying to learn how to knit? Have always wanted to learn to do calligraphy? All you need is a trip to the local craft store and your good friend Google and you’ll be an expert in no time!
  • Make yourself a fancy drink. This one may sound funny but when I take a few extra minutes in the morning to make myself a fancy latte or delicious smoothie instead of just sneaking a few bites off my daughter’s breakfast plate or eating a boring granola bar and coffee that has been reheated too many times, it starts my day off so much better! The few extra minutes I spend on treating myself to something nice instead of just my family sends the message that I’m deserving of it, and that’s what self-care is all about!

Keep It Simple!

Remember, the simpler you keep it, the more likely you will actually be to practice self-care this summer! So, start by grabbing yourself a bottle of Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash the next time you are at Target and promise yourself to start making self-care a priority! Even if you need to schedule it into your planner, just make it happen and you will be a better woman and mama for it! You deserve it!

  1. I’very been trying to find more time to read. It really is such a great way to relax and also feel better about yourself!

  2. Self care is important or else I would lose my sanity! Motherhood is such a tough job and if we don’t take care of ourselves too, we cannot take care of the needs of the family. I make it a point to always free up some time to indulge in binge watching my favorite shows. My happy, quiet time. 🙂

  3. I’ve been really big on self care – especially lately. I’ve been reading like a mad woman and have seriously stepped up my workout game!

For some reason, I only think of Mrs. Meyers when it comes to home cleaning products. I’ll have to check out this body wash.
