35+ Articles You Need To Read Before Beginning Your Breastfeeding Journey

It’s National Breastfeeding Week and now that I’ve been breastfeeding for just about two years, I wanted to honor how important nursing has been to me and my daughter so far. I thought about what I wished I had known before I started my breastfeeding journey. I wondered how I could I use what I know now to help some other mamas out there? Someone who is worried about breastfeeding once their little one arrives or who is going through a rough patch. I did my “research” when I was pregnant but I was still nervous! It came pretty easily once my daughter arrived, but it wasn’t without its hiccups here and there. From a lip and tongue tie diagnosis to having to pump while I went back to work for 6 months to nursing a toddler, the one thing that has been the most helpful to me has been hearing from other breastfeeding moms!

It Takes A Breastfeeding Village

I’ve said it before but it becomes more apparent to me all the time how social media is such a great modern day resource for moms! We no longer live in a time where common pregnancy, labor, birth and mothering knowledge is always passed down to us by the women in our lives. Generations of women before us may have been given poor (or no) nursing advice or lacked breastfeeding support, but we are so lucky to live in a new era of the movement to normalize breastfeeding! We don’t have to rely on outdated or limited advice anymore when it comes to our babies!  We have a huge mothering village right at our fingertips: An online mothering support network. That’s why I turned to people who have the best breastfeeding advice for you. Real mamas who have been there and done that, and many who are still there, and doing that!

I asked some fellow breastfeeding blogger mamas to share their best posts about nursing with me and I was overwhelmed with all the amazing articles I was flooded with! These posts cover a whole range of topics. From extended nursing to pumping, breastfeeding challenges and gear, and even some of the challenges when it comes to breastfeeding. I hope if you are worried about nursing and want to gain some support and advice before you start, or give it a go this time around, you will find some help here!
