Date Night

It’s no secret that after you have kids, it can be kind of hard for couples to make time for each other. Ok, really hard! My husband and I were pretty good about being intentional about going on dates and making time for each other before my daughter was born. I assumed it would be the same after she was born. But here’s the truth, it takes a lot more than a willing and available babysitter to make date night happen.

Honestly, at the end of the day, having to coordinate someone to come watch our baby, get dressed, drive out to wherever we’re going, spend too much money on food and probably just miss our daughter while we’re there… it just doesn’t sound all that appealing to me. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to spend quality time with my husband! In fact, I believe it’s more important than ever to make a conscious effort to reconnect with each other, not only for ourselves, but for our little one.

What’s In the Box?

I was so intrigued when I heard about Date Night In Boxes! They are every pretty much everything I want in a date night with my husband, without all the hassle I don’t want! Here’s the gist:

  • A completely planned and themed date night delivered right to your door each month
  • Each box contains essentially all you need for your date night in
  • A description of each activity as well as tips on how to make the most of your night are included
  • Access to a special playlist and recipe for the perfect meal to accompany your box are included
  • No planning required! Just open the box and enjoy!
  • Purchase date night packages ahead of time (3, 6, or 12 months!)

Our December Date Night

The date night box we received for December was a Winter Wonderland theme! We decided to do our date night right before Christmas, in order to just slow down and spend time together amidst all the holiday craziness! All of our holiday decorations and Christmas tree made for the perfect backdrop. All that was left to do was put the baby to sleep, turn off the TV and sit down together with our box!

I won’t give you ALL the details just so you can be surprised for your own date night if you choose to sign up, but here is what our date night included in a nutshell! Although some of the pictures will give you a pretty good idea of what we did 🙂

  • An “ice breaker” type game
  • A hands-on craft type project (which we kind of failed at but it was so fun to do together!)
  • A follow-up to the craft which involved giving back to a great cause!
  • A “Would You Rather?” game
  • A sweet treat for us to enjoy
  • Finally, we made a sentimental gift for each other

My Favorite Part and Final Thoughts

Overall, I was super impressed with the Date Night In box! Why? Because it was so easy! It literally took no effort on our part! The effort part is what is hard when it comes to making time for each other after we are both wiped out at the end of the day and have no energy to leave the house or get dressed up. This was the perfect solution! No planning, no energy, just set a date, open the box and enjoy each other. My favorite part of the box was the fun crafty activity that made us laugh and flex our (practically non-existent) artistic muscles! It was something we wouldn’t normally do together and that’s what made it fun.

Whether you are a busy parent or not, it can be so hard to make your partner a priority! I’d 100 percent recommend Night In Boxes to any couple, whether they have only been together for a while or have been together forever. I can’t wait to try out another one and make it a regular thing.

Want to try one out for yourself? Check out all the options they have available here! They even have family date night boxes, which I can’t wait to try when Easton gets a little older!
