If you have a dog, you can most likely agree with me that they are way more than just a pet to you.  They are part of the family, plain and simple.  They fill our lives with so much joy and make our lives better.  These days, there has been a natural food revolution, with so many people realizing the benefits of healthy, clean diets.  So, why shouldn’t we be filling our furry family members’ bellies the same way?  This is where a natural pet treat like Simple Wag comes in.  They get it.  They understand how important our pups are to us, and why we should care about the treats we feed them. Here’s my personal story about our rescue dog Lucy and why we will always choose natural pet treats like the ones from Simple Wag for her.

Lucy’s Story

I like to call our dog Lucy our first born.  Before Easton came along she really was like our only child.  We definitely feel like she is a family member and treat her as so.  It’s hard not to when you know the kind of life she had for her first 8 months.  We don’t know all the details, but what we do know is she came from a high-kill shelter in Alabama, but thankfully was rescued by a local group near us that transported her to Maryland.  The description I read about her online said her name was “Angel” because she was so calm and sweet… not like a typical rambunctious puppy.  As it turns out, the reason she was so calm is because she felt so sick.  When we got her, she was very thin and had several infections and conditions we found ourselves dealing with (as well as a crazy vet bill!)  Poor thing just felt so sick she didn’t have the energy to act like a puppy!

Fast forward a few months and thankfully we got all of Lucy’s conditions under control!  She was like a new dog!  Full of personality and making up for all her lost puppy time.  She still deals with some separation anxiety but other than that she is a happy girl and we intend on keeping her that way!  We love her so much and want her to be around as long as she can.  This is why I want to make the time we do have with her the best quality it can possibly be.  This means avoiding things in pet products and foods that really shouldn’t be there in the first place.

Why Simple Wag?

Have you ever actually read the ingredients on your dog’s food or treats?  Hopefully you have, because there is some crazy stuff in some of it.  It is unbelievable to me that these big name pet food companies are actually allowed to sell some of these foods made up largely of byproduct, fillers and additives that have no place in a pet’s body.  Simple Wag’s mission is to change all of this.  They are working to educate dog owners about what to avoid in dog food and treats and instead aim to provide healthy, all-natural treats with just a few simple ingredients that are actually beneficial to your dog, helping to keep them happy and healthy.

Lucy was lucky enough to be able to try out Simple Wag’s all-natural, non-toxic Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato Dog Treats made with simple, human-grade ingredient and oh boy was she in heaven!  Our Lucy pup can be a bit of a picky eater.  She has never been one to gobble up all of her food as soon as we feed her, and has even turned up her nose at some of the treats we have tried giving her before, but not with these treats!  She devoured them.  We have been giving her a few each day and she has definitely been enjoying them.  They only have 5 ingredients in them: peanut butter, eggs, sweet potatoes, potato flour and flaxseed oil.  We are loving that they are actually good for her and have nothing in them we should worry about!  Thank you Simple Wag for creating a natural dog treat that helps us treat this very important family member in a way she deserves!
